Choosing a Farrier

Whether horse owners call us farriers, horseshoers, natural hoof care practitioners, or hoof specialists; whether our philosophy is "To shoe or not to shoe." our number one commitment is to achieve and maintain the balance and support of a horse through proper trimming or shoeing to insure his health and soundness. Proper evaluation of each horse is a must to determine and if necessary to counteract the natural confirmation of the horse.  This approach can only be accomplished through the education that organizations such as the BWFA offer. "Just nailing on shoes" needs to be replaced by a knowledgeable farrier who can discuss physiological, pathological, and conformational issues when evaluating each horse.  Remember, all certified farriers are horseshoers, BUT, not all horseshoers are certified farriers! Horse owners need to choose a farrier with the health, soundness, and performance of the horse in mind and who has the education to accomplish this?

THE CERTIFIED FARRIER!

Rick Lemoine, BWFA Certified Journeyman Farrier II

You are welcome to bring your horse to the Farriers' National Research Center located in northwest Georgia. Here the farrier staff can offer you a free evaluation and assist with any hoof care or shoeing problems you may have. You will find this center to always be courteous, kind and professional.

All horse owners have the opportunity to become a member of the BWFA since our association is one of the official sponsors of the FNRC
