HEE, HEE, HEE, HAW, HAW, HAW!
After at least thirty seconds of careful research & consulting my dream team (a couple of drunks and a third grader with a broken arm) I have come to one profound conclusion: If you are an industrious hard working person that pays their bills and saves a little for a rainy day, your rainy day has arrived. The Obama stimulus package is doing it’s best to make sure you will be POOR enough to benefit from it. Just remember, if you get up tomorrow morning with twelve horseshoes in the bank and work extra hard for the next six months you will end up with 6 horseshoes in the bank. Isn’t that something to look forward to? We have to work extra hard to insure that our congressman has something to steal from us at the end of the day. How could a party who has the noble mule as a logo act like such jackasses.
However, I’m convinced someone shot the wise old elephant in the other party and replaced it with the same jackass. Sorry, if I have offended any noble mules out there.
Now onto cloning. Pretty amazing, huh? Well, I’m off to the annual American Quarter Horse Convention next week in San Antonio, Texas where the effects of cloning on the horse industry will be discussed. Whether you are for it or against it, please explain one thing to me. How does cloning progress the horse industry? In other words assuming that cloning works and you get another “Scamper” or “Smart Little Lena” isn’t that staying in the same place? Having watched the horse industry over the last 30 years the most fascinating aspect of it is that overall performance is enhanced. Why would we want to impede the progress by recreating what’s already been done?
How about the internet hubbub about horse trainers & horseshoers? Boy, I’ve been reading all kinds of bad things about top pleasure horse, reining horse trainers, and horseshoers. If the accusations are true then that’s too bad, but how could you know what’s true when you are only getting one side of the story? Remember to do some more research before you decide who you are going to believe. I’m even finding myself getting raked over the coals on some blogs. Can you imagine that? No, let’s NOT police the internet. Freedom of speech is a wonderful thing, even if they are running you down.
Isn’t it wonderful that our illustrious congress is considering passing ban on horse slaughter? The people that are lobbying congress for the ban are so short sighted and of course congress can’t see beyond its nose. That’s right horses that were being slaughtered humanely in the United States are now on long haul trucks going to Mexico. So now their unpleasant ride to death is even longer and of course there are no humane methods enforced in Mexican slaughter houses. The other thing that has happened is many old & crippled domestic horses are being dumped into the wild on national forest lands because people can’t afford to have them destroyed humanely. Equine universities and other horse facilities are finding horses dumped on their properties during the night. Gee, thanks to Bo Derek, some state legislatures, et al, you really did a great disservice to the welfare of horses. “Do gooders” never seem to consider unintended consequences or offer possible solutions once they happen.
On a bright note there are two elected officials in Maricopa County, Arizona that we can be proud of. One is Sheriff Joe Arpaio and the other is County Attorney Andrew Thomas. Consider that after 16 years in office Sheriff Arpaio still has an over 80% approval rating among the folks. This is accomplished by hard work and doing the right thing. The county attorney is also a big part of the progress. So aside from these guys being in the forefront of fighting crime they are very concerned and active in the welfare of animals. Don’t be too discouraged, sometimes we do elect good people to office.
Unlike fellow pundits and ranters that only complain and offer no solutions, I believe I have a plan that will solve several American problems. When we are having an election, at the bottom of the election ballot there needs to be a box where we can check “none of the above”. If “none of the above” gets more votes than any of the other candidates, then the various parties have to regroup and come up with better candidates. This will eliminate voting for the lesser of two or twelve evils.
